30 Years Ago, the Jeep Cherokee (XJ) Arrived

We wanted to acknowledge an important milestone in 2014 before we say hello to a New Year: the 30th anniversary of the release of the Jeep Cherokee (XJ).

The revolutionary unibody Cherokee was 1,000 pounds lighter than it's full-size Jeep Wagoneer cousin and the first vehicle to feature 4x4 options-- the part-time Command-Trac and full-time Selec-Trac systems. The model made an impressive debut, scoring three "4x4 of the Year" awards from three off-road publications.

The Cherokee has come a long way since that 1984 model. Earlier this year, it was the first American car to crack Japan's Top 10 Cars list. Curious to see how the new Jeep Cherokee compares? Kick off 2015 with a visit to our Imlay City, MI dealership and find out for yourself.
